The Ashtanga Vinyasa style of yoga made for the western audience is Power Yoga. This style of yoga was invented by two Americans-Beryl Bender Birch and Bryan Kest. Power Yoga has certain features of Iyengar Yoga and Bikram Yoga, although it is closely modeled on Ashtanga style of yoga. This form of yoga improves the strength and flexibility of a person's body as the postures are held for a certain length of time to attain perfection. This is a feature of Iyengar Yoga. Like Bikram Yoga, it can be attempted by beginners as it consists of some basic postures of yoga. It is also done in a heated room to attain flexibility of muscles.

Power Yoga may seem easy to a person who is not practicing it. This style consists of a sequence of yoga postures which matches the pattern of breathing while making every movement. The movements appear to be soft and flowing freely but it is a dynamic exercise and pushes every part of the body to the maximum limit. Thus, tremendous concentration and inner strength of mind is needed to carry out each and every posture elegantly and perfectly. In this yoga style, transition from one pose to another is done slowly but steadily. Some postures are held for a longer duration of time. This increases concentration and physical stamina. It is not ideal for those with chronic diseases and those who are physically unfit. Yet this form is gaining much popularity than the other contemporary styles.

Laughter Yoga is a modern style of exercise and can be done by all. It does not involve any rigorous physical exercise. It is an exercise involving fun and can be done by any person of any age.
